Microsoft Internet Assistant for Word 2.04
Don’t know a lick of HTML, but need to create a page for your company’s intranet or website? Internet Assistant for MS Word makes it easy for Word users to convert existing documents to HTML or create new ones, using the Word interface. You can insert and test hyperlinks in any Word document, and retrieve information from other web pages. Some of the documents I converted lost their original formatting in the translation to HTML, and some extensive HTML editing was required to restore elements such as complicated lists and columns. Still, if you have a mountain of Word documents to put on an intranet, this add-on will make short work of it.

Microsoft Image Composer 1.0
Built-in transparency and more than 500 tools and effects make web image creation in this app a snap. Image Composer uses a concept called „sprites,“ which are images possessing the shape of the objects they represent. This enables you to avoid the fixed rectangular images (and the learning curve of layers, channels and masks) of other image-editing applications. Image Composer supports TIFF, GIF, JPEG and other image formats, along with TWAIN scanners. You can supposedly run third-party effects filters, but I was unable to get Image Composer to recognize any of the filters I commonly use with other image editors.

Microsoft Media Manager
Use the familiar Windows Explorer interface to organize, locate and preview your multimedia „assets“ with Microsoft Media Manager. Media assets can include dynamic media like sound and video clips, static media such as HTML files and documents in various file formats. Your media folders are distinguished by their metallic briefcase icons, and your files can have easy-access thumbnails associated with them. Annotations let you attach additional information to your files, which becomes helpful with even small multimedia collections. Media Manager can take the hard work out of cataloging your media files.

Microsoft Internet Assistant for Access
You can share your Access databases easily and quickly with Internet Assistant for Access. You can work with data stored natively in an Access database, or with any other Open Database Connectivity (ODBC)-compliant data source. Microsoft claims no knowledge of HTML is necessary to create up-to-the-minute web or intranet-ready documents with your data, but I found that to get the best results, I needed both a solid understanding of Access and a working knowledge of HTML.

Microsoft Internet Assistant for PowerPoint
Creating a web or intranet version of your PowerPoint presentation is simple with the Internet Assistant for PowerPoint. Using the new File menu command, Export as HTML, a new set of linked HTML documents is created. You get two versions of each slide — one graphic and one text. The graphical version retains the color scheme and layout of your original presentation, while the text version accommodates non-graphical web browsers. All your original presentation’s interactive settings are maintained, making it easy to get your point across on the Web.
